Poppy & Nanny Visit

Grandma & Grandpa Visit

The Edmonds' Family

Everyday is a New Adventure

In March during the girls Winter term break, Nanny & Poppy came to England for a visit. After they recovered from the flight over, we spent a few days in Shrewsbury and then headed to London as that was very high on Nanny's list. We had a really good visit there and stayed for 3 days.

On our first day, we went to see Kensington Palace and walked through part of Hyde Park to the Princess Diana Memorial Fountain. These were two of the places we did not get to visit on our early visit to London in 2007. The front of the palace looks over Hyde Park and there is a beautiful pond where we came across the swans that are pictured with Megan and Nicole. The girls were amazed by the size of the statue on the opposite side of the pond and had to climb upon it for a picture.

Our second day began early with a flight on the London Eye. This afforded us all an excellent opportunity to see London and a lot of the major tourist sites from a unique vantage point. Megan discovered one of the street performers after the flight and had her picture taken with him. That was followed by ice cream and one of Poppy's favourite pictures -- the one with all his girls! We were able to get a picture of Nanny and Poppy in front of Big Ben and Megan got in the picture too! From there, we walked towards Downing street and came to the Horse Guard. The girls really tried to make them move, laugh or do anything and it didn't work. We walked through the Horse Guard house and came to an open area where Megan found cannons. We then made our way to Trafalgar Square to eat lunch at "Texas Embassy" Mexican Restaurant. This has become one of our favourite places to eat at when we visit London.

Once in Trafalgar Square, the girls were excited to show Nanny and Poppy the huge lions in the center. They each had to climb on them and we took a few pictures which you can see below. That night we ate dinner at Rainforest Cafe.

After the long days in London, we got back on a train and headed back to Shrewsbury. The trip was great and the visit with Nanny and Poppy was awesome! Poppy even taught Megan a new cord on her guitar.

All too soon, it was time to take them back to the airport. We enjoyed their visit, but the time flew by much too quickly.
